Missionaries | Refugee Resettlement | International Mission Trips

And the Risen Jesus came to his disciples and said . . . All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

    - Matthew 28:18-20

This passage of scripture guides the focus of Preston Hollow’s service to all God’s people across the globe. We focus our service in three ways: support of missionaries, refugee resettlement and occasional international mission trips. Our involvement comes in many ways. There is always a need for your dollars and yet the greatest need is for your time and your talents.

    Missionaries
Preston Hollow supports three mission co-worker families through the Presbyterian Church (USA). If you would like to communicate via e-mail with any of these families, please click on their names:

    • Nancy & Frank Dimmock (fdimmock@eo.wn.apc.org) serve in Malawi. They currently live in the capital city Lilongwe with their five children, Nathan, Moses, Jessica, Katie and Andrew. Frank coordinates the administration of all of Malawi’s hospitals. The Dimmocks have served in Africa as mission co-workers since 1985. Prior to serving in Malawi, they lived in Lesotho.

    • Kay & Fred Johnson (The.Johnson@pobox.com)serve in Indonesia. They live in Salatiga, a town at the foot of Mt. Merbabu in Central Java. Fred is a software engineering professor at Satya Wacana Christian University and he also teaches Hebrew in the theological department. Kay is also a professor and teaches Christian Education to seminary students. They have lived in Indonesia since 1993.

    • Sara & Guido Mahecha (guido@ibeuce.com.br)serve in Brazil. Since 1990, the Mahechas have taught at Fortaleza Seminary in northeast Brazil, one of the poorest parts of the country. Their ministry has focused on equipping Brazilian pastors to start new churches in the northeast of Brazil. They also help their students form social service agencies such as food banks and soup kitchens.

    Refugee Resettlement

Imagine coming from a small rural village and landing at DFW airport not speaking a word of English. What do you do and where do you go? How do you get a job and navigate through the maze of government paperwork? How do you go shopping in the United States and survive in American culture? For decades, PHPC has helped families seeking asylum from political and civil unrest answer questions such as these. We have helped families start a new life in a new country.

In partnership with Church World Service and Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, families from Central and Eastern Europe and Africa have been moved from refugee camps to Dallas. Most recently, families have come from the Sudan and from Somalia. PHPC resettles families about every other year. When the time comes to resettle a family, volunteers are needed donate furniture, household goods, clothing. Volunteers are needed to drive the family to appointments and help counsel them through their first three months in Dallas.

In the years we are not resettling a family, time and dollars goes to help start churches in refugee communities within the Dallas area.
